Trusts
We specialise in the setting up of appropriate trust structures for, usually, persons of wealth who are resident and domiciled outside the Cayman Islands. Although it is possible to have individual trustees, settlors generally prefer to have the security of having the trust assets vested in Cayman trust companies managed by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and to benefit from the vast management experience of such companies. Generally, the typical trust structure will be a family trust the trustees being given discretionary powers, frequently exercisable only with the consent of a protector, to distribute the trust assets or income over a period of time amongst a class consisting of the settlor and his family. Occasionally, trusts are established by settlors whose assets would otherwise on death become subject to the forced heirship provisions of their domiciliary jurisdictions.
